Causes and control of surface defects of cold rolled titanium plate

Titanium and titanium alloy are very important lightweight structural materials, which are widely used in aerospace, vehicle engineering, biomedicine and other fields. With the development of economy and technology, there are more and more titanium plate applications, but the corresponding surface quality problem is more prominent.

There are two kinds of surface defects of titanium plate: conventional defect and unconventional defect. The common defects are:

  1. 1, scratch

  2. Cause: guide plate, roller table, tools and rollers are not smooth, there are adhesive or angular burr, rolling surface scratch; Careless operation, so that the collision between the scratch surface.

  3. Measures: before rolling, check the tools, guide plate, roller and roll, and remove the problems in time; Operate carefully, don't pull and bump randomly.

  4. 2. Metal press

  5. Reason: the edge burr and tail slag of the rolled part were pressed into the surface of the product.

  6. Measures: timely eliminate the edge of the slab burr and surface foreign matter. Cut off the edge and head in time.

  7. 3. Non-metallic press

  8. Cause: poor sanitation, dust foreign matter fell on the surface of rolled parts; After pickling, the cleaning is not clean.

  9. Measures: do a good job of sanitation, timely remove rolling surface adhesive.

  10. 4, hemp pit hemp point

  11. Reason: when pressing orthotic annealing, there is dust on the surface of pressing plate or backing plate.

  12. Measures: clean up the surface of pressing plate and backing plate in time before entering the furnace.

  13. 5, roller mark

  14. Cause: roll surface wear serious, there are pits, pockmarks, scratches, etc. Roll surface is pressed out of the corner of the plate.

  15. Measure: find roll mark, repair or replace roll.

Unconventional defects are:

  1. 1, the table split

  2. Reason: incoming material unqualified, surface crack did not clear clean or incoming material surface brittle inspiratory layer did not clear, in addition, the pressure regulation is not reasonable, the processing rate is small, the processing rate is too much, or the processing rate distribution is not equal.

  3. Measures: strict control of incoming material surface quality, reasonable distribution of the pass rate, to ensure uniform annealing temperature, enhance rolling lubrication.

  4. 2, acid spot

  5. Reason: one kind is pickling, residual acid did not rinse clean, plate drying formation. One is the sheet in the stack annealing, surface oxidation uneven, pickling surface corrosion degree is not consistent.

  6. Measures: pickling must be clean, to ensure no residual acid on the surface of the plate and then drying; Reduce the stacking thickness to ensure even annealing; Sanding treatment can also be used to save the late treatment.
